John Kluge is the co-founder of Eirene, a purpose driven venture that focuses on issues that affect at least 1 billion people. He is the co-founder of Toilet Hackers, a non-profit who's goal is to improve access to sanitation to 2.5 billion people. Prior to taking on the world's sanitation crisis he led a program on child protection and cybersecurity at the Eastwest Institute. John is on the board of Pencils of Promise, UNICEF's Next Generation, and Fonderie 47. He contributes to Forbes and he is the author of Charity and Philanthropy for Dummies, 2013, John Kluge: Stories, 2009, and is currently working on a new book, Philanthropunk: Straight-edge for the Greater Good, 2014. TEDxFukuoka is one of the TEDx conferences. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
